Saving During the COVID-19 Quarantine

In normal life saving is hard. Now add worldwide panic, absolute boredom, and extra money to spare and you've got yourself a recipe for a guilt free shopping spree. Now-a-days it's almost a God given right to give ourselves a little

more TLC than usual. And though this feels good, our bank accounts could definitely feel the effects of this.
Here are some ways I am saving during COVID-19:
Rakuten
If you've made up in your mind you will shop, great! Just be sure to earn back as much cash as possible with this easy to download app. To help out, they have also partnered with some of our frequently used apps like Uber to give you even more savings.
Go Off-Brand for Savings
I have always been a firm believer that if you can sub any high ticket item, do it. You have no loyalty to brands when it comes to keeping your money saved. It's smarter to save in the grocery department especially to cash-in somewhere else.
Pause Food Subscriptions
From experience I have found that is cheaper to make your own trip to the store or even use other grocery pick up apps. Hello Fresh and those similar have to a brand to build, recipes and packaging, and other overhead expenses that cause them to have a bigger cost margin, therefore making them a pricier option at this time.
Buy in Bulk
High usage items should be brought in by the boat load. Tissue, soap, lotion, and snacks on a weekly individual scale will build eventually as a big expense. Buying the bigger bag gives you a bargain- every roll gets cheaper in bulk. You always save gas and peace, without having so many grocery runs.
Skip the Bakery
Cakes, pastries, and cupcakes are artisan and delicious, but they're very expensive. In today's time, a single cupcake can start at 3.50+. To make box cakes/cupcakes on your own is around the same cost- this includes the icing.
Eat Leftovers
Monitor Showers
With everyone being home and all day, the bills can take a dive. Because no one's in a rush, showers and baths are starting to get longer. Though the water is peaceful and a great escape, bills can be stressful, so make sure you're working together to not abuse the shower.
Don't Waste Food
I know we have all mistakenly had very fresh produce go bad like mushrooms or strawberries. Do better at remembering they are there and binge eat them. They won't be as amazing after a few days.
All these things are keeping my mindset on saving, and they are effective. Put them into practice and you'll for sure see the difference in your bank account.
